"Ode to All Things Nonsensical" was the theme of the 2013 Poetry Pageant in which Ken's grandson, Jackson Hatch and his Kindergarten Class performed recently. This year, Jackson now attends Epiphany School and this was the first event that we have attended there since he began.
The auditorium was full of parents and grandparents patiently waiting for the big show to begin. The theme allowed the children to have fun and most had come dressed in un-matching, wacky clothing choices. Jackson wore a large necktie over his t-shirt and had his hair combed into a Mohawk.
The program was replete with Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein poems as well as nursery rhymes and other lesser known poems. One of the audience favorites was a rendition of Paul McCartney's "Yellow Submarine" performed by both Kindergarten classes.
Following the performance, we navigated our way to his classroom to meet his teacher, Meg McGrath, and found him already busy with his favorite activity which is playing with Legos.
